Muskegon Community Health Project (CAP)

Funding Source: CAP grant

Project Period: since 1994

Project Coordinator: Lynn Breer, PhD

The Muskegon Community Health Project (MCHP) and community partners received a federal CAP grant to identify and address the needs of the uninsured in Muskegon County. MCHP provides outreach and referrals to two Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) for individuals without health care insurance or a medical provider. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems were implemented at the FQHCs, and funding was provided to the centers to enhance clinical capacity and health education. MPHI-CDMTR will analyze financial data, submitted by the FQHCs, to measure the effect that the MCHP CAP project has had on efficiency and cost-savings of providing health care within the centers.
