The Innovations in Graduate Health Professions Education program was a multi-year initiative aimed at designing and implementing unique approaches in preparing health professionals to practice in managed care settings and to improve treatment of Medicaid, indigent, and medically underserved populations. Seven graduate medical education sites and a graduate nursing education consortium, funded by the W.K. Kellogg foundation participated in the project. The project members served 23 counties in Michigan, both urban and rural. Each site consisted of a consortium of organizations such as hospitals, clinics, universities, local health departments, and managed care organizations. MPHI-CDMTR provided program management, technical assistance, and project evaluation expertise to the project.
