Funding Source: Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Project Period: September 1, 2007-February 28, 2008

Project Coordinator: Mary Zack Thompson, MBA

The purpose of the project was to gather information from national, state, and local preparedness officials, as well as experts, regarding their knowledge, need, and interest in preparedness modeling. The information from this project will help inform the development of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Preparedness Modeling Unit for the National Center for Environmental Health, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. MPHI-CDMTR provided preparedness and data collection expertise, identified key stakeholders for data collection, conducted data collection, and participated in data analysis and reporting. The project is described in an article titled, Use of Computer Modeling for Emergency Preparedness Functions by Local and State Health Officials: A Needs Assessment, published in the April 2009 issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.
