What is Alcestis?
-
Alcestis is an internet-based mortality data collection system that provides medical examiners and coroners with the ability to electronically manage case information using a cost-effective system..
-
The primary purpose for Alcestis is to create a nationwide, comprehensive, and uniform database for use by county medical examiners, coroners, health departments, state agencies and researchers.
-
Online application follows the Death Scene Investigation Report (DSIR) used by scene investigators.
|
Benefits of Alcestis
-
Alcestis provides resources and technical assistance to users of the system. A number of pre-defined reports are available on-line through the database website.
-
Participating offices have the ability to electronically enter, track, retrieve, and update cases while incurring none of the development or maintenance costs of creating a custom database. Using the Internet to enter data eliminates version control issues and installation problems.
-
Alcestis can be customized to meet the individual data collection needs of medical examiner and coroner offices.
